Designer's Block ???

You know the old saying "I have writers block"? Well I think I have designers block. Some things happened that took me away from designing for a while (which I will not to go into) and while I have tried to get back into it I just haven't quite gotten back to where I was. It was emotional, and still is, and the residual stress from it all has taken away my mojo. I hope to get it back, I am working on it. Until then I guess this blog just sits empty for a while longer .... sorry.

Been gone a long while ... sorry. Real life sometimes reaches up and takes hold and you have to sort things out and put them into perspective. I am no longer selling at Michelle's Angels as Michelle closed her store and opened a new one. I am not selling there at the moment as I need to get back into the swing of things and try to get my mojo back.

Thanks for your support while I was away. I am going to try to get in here more often and keep my blog active. May even just put my stuff on here to sell when I am done with it for a while and see how it goes.

In the meantime ... please check in often to see what I have been up to ... leave me some love and inspiration or ideas you would like to see.

I wish you all a fantastic Christmas and New Year! I hope it is filled with the wonderful aromas we are all so used to this time of year, and more love, joy and merriment than you know what to do with!!

This has been a very busy, and eventful year! Not into giving a load of details right now and frankly, I am very disappointed in the fact that I am getting so many spam comments.

Anyway, we bought a home on the other side of the country and have been busy getting things together with the move and unpacking ... wow ... I am now ready for a vacation and I am still not done yet, lol.

I hope to be back in the swing of things soon as I can. We'll see how it goes.

Almost Feb already ... WOW!

So much time has escaped me! We have been so busy with the house it is not even funny. House closes on the 5th, we fly back to load our stuff on the 8th of Feb, and have till the 28th to wait for possession. We hope to be able to get in sooner. After Feb. 8th, I won't be back on here for a while. Have lots of packing to do, some stuff to sell before we head back ETC. Probably wont be until first of March or so.

Please bear with me while we go through this transition. After, I hope to be able to get busy with my blog again.

Thank you to all my friends who have emailed me, left me chat messages etc! That has meant a lot to me!!

As a foot note .... we found a house! YEAY :)
This is not "officially binding" until it passes appraisal and inspection but we see no major issues with inspection and I am sure appraisal will be a breeze!! I (we, lol) are soooo excited! It probably won't close until end of Dec. and then we have the pleasure of taking a flight back to Cali and getting a U-haul and driving our things back here. OH JOY!! Hope the bad weather and snows will have mercy on us during this trek. But I will still be quite busy for a while and will be in and out of here in the meantime. Please bare with me while we go through this transition. Thanks for your patience.

In case I cannot get back in here beforehand I'd like to take the time to wish every one of you a wonderful fun-loving, family filled, joyful and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Well, we are still in Indiana. We are in the process of buying a house. What a huge amount of work goes into finding the right house! And .... we are still looking!! :o
And so .... I figured I better get in here and post something since I have been absent for so long.

It feels good to get back in here for a bit. I have been so busy I haven't had much time for desiging. I miss it!!!! I am working on a fall kit though and it is going to be awesome. It will be up in the store soon. I will post a note soon as I have a chance to finish it up and get it uploaded. Be sure to check back soon for go-with goodie too :))))

Wow, I am gone for a short while and come back and all the blogs I was following have disappeared! I have been on a 43 minute search to see if I can get them back without trying to revisit each as I had quite a few and will never remember them all now. LOL ... (I think).

Has this happened to anyone else? Please post a comment if so and how you fixed it. Thanks ;)

I am still in Indiana. We are currently looking for a house to purchase. We are pre-approved, now just waiting to find what we want. Hope to do so and close by mid Nov. at the latest!! Otherwise we will have to go back to Cali to live for a while. Not looking forward to that.

I wanted to thank you all for your support, your messages and prayers. They mean so much, we can't thank you enough!!

Not sure if anyone is even reading this, but for those that may be I thought I would post an update.

We are in Indiana now. The weather is hot, humid and sticky. Eeek ... I had forgotten how humid the Midwest could be!!

My Father-in-law goes back in for another PSA Count tomorrow. Please say a prayer for him to get good results. Thanks so much.

I've not had time to do any designing, but maybe soon.

We are making a trip back home (Midwest from Cali) to be with family. This is a cross country trip. I will be gone until possibly October or so. Our car has major mechanical issues right now and we have to make this trip on motorcycles. My sweet African Grey is safe at my sisters and I've only got a bit of stuff to do yet, but we are leaving a week earlier than originally planned!! :o
That means things needed to be rearranged somewhat and I have less time now, lol!! We are leaving Thursday, May 28th.

We are taking the laptop so I will be able to check in and maybe post some stuff if I can figure out DH's laptop, lmao. Never tried graphics on it yet. I can be reached by email if needed.

Could everyone please hold off on awards and tagging while I am gone. While I love to get them, and am honorded you think enough of me to send them, they will be hard to keep up on while I am gone and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Thank you so much for understanding.

JERKS !!!!

Some unscrupulous jerks left a message on my chat box yesterday morning from flahgames 1001 at flashgames1001 DOT com that said this: " Hi, dear friend. Blog visiting today!!hit me back please. "

I thought it was not legit just from the address, so being the nosey type person I can be when it comes to this crap I went on a search. So instead of clicking the link I copied the address into my browser. It took me to a game site. They tried to install something on my computer (I think I successfully blocked it) but F4 didn't work. I closed the window and it then kept loading new browser tabs to the site page. I didn't try to open them to close them!! It immediately took my CPU to 100%. I swear my tower sounded like an F14 taking off!!

Anyway, I had to open Task Manager to shut Internet Explorer down that way because nothing else worked at that point. I got it shut down and hope all is ok as it seems to be at the moment, scans came back clean!

So whatever you do --- DO NOT CLICK THAT LINK OR ADD IT TO YOUR BROWSER!!

If you got this in your chat box too lets get rid of it! Click the link to the site from the box itself, or go there via whatever means you do. Mine is Cbox so I clicked that in bottom right corner of the chat box itself. Log in. Go to Messages and choose messages from the slide down. Put a checkmark in the message(s) for these idiots, I got two, and then report as Spam, then Ban, and then Delete. I also went as far as sending them a note about it from the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page when I was done.

Getting Rid of Those Ugly Jagged Edges!!

Morning everyone. Today I am offering a very benificial tutorial. We all see those nasty jaggies on so many things we make. This can happen at any time and doing the simplist things that you wouldn't think would leave a jaggie ... but it does! It also happens after using the warp brush tool, and many other tools too.

In my examples I am using the Ball and Bubbles Filter I use to make some of my beads. This leaves an unsightly very prominate outer edge I do not want showing, especially because I am a designer and need things to look perfect, lol.

I am going to teach you my way of getting rid of these ugly edges and jaggies. You'll end up with much nicer, smoother edges.

What you need:

PSP, any version
Gold Ball Preset (if you don't already have it) Download
Put the "Preset_BallsAndBubbles_Gold ball.P_.PspScript" in your Preset Folder of PSP in My Documents\MyPSP\your version here\Presets.

Let's get started making a bead :)

New Image 300 x 300 > Transparent > 300 PPI
Ellipse Tool set to circle
Set color of your choice for Fill
Draw out a circle about the proportions as below > Objects/Align/Center in Canvas.
Selections/Select All/Selections/Float/Selections/Defloat. (Here out known as Select/Float/Defloat)

You should now have something similar to this:

Now we'll apply Balls & Bubbles effect to it.

Effects/Artistic Effects/Balls & Bubbles
In the Preset drop down list select Gold Ball (attached if needed - put in Preset folder)/Click OK.
You should now see this:

See that red outline? (This technique works for those jagged pixels as well)
We are going to get rid of that outline left over by the Balls & Bubbles effect (UNLESS - you want to keep it).

Select/Float/Defloat > Selections/Modify/Smooth. Use Default Settings (click the curved arrow to make it default) > Click OK > Select/Float/Defloat > Selections/Modify/Contract by 5 > Click OK > Invert/Delete/Select None.

This should now be your end result.

Of course you can play with these settings on anything you make. As you know, not everything will have this large of an edge to remove. You may need to adjust settings, even drop your smooth settings from 10 to 5.
**This technique works equally well on those flower petals/objects you have used the Warp tool on!!**

Two more examples:

These two images are the same. I made a circle using the ellipse tool. Applied a SuperBladePro Preset to it. See how it gave it an ugly white outline? I used the exact method above and the second image is the result. Much cleaner and smoother.

I was scouring the net today looking for something and then remembered I needed to see if I had been added to Hummies Blog Roll List yet and then decided I should try to contact her again. I went to her site and she had the most wonderful post from the 25th titled "Thought Provoking Video". Talk about thought provoking!! It certainly does make you question things about yourself and the art we produce. Will I make something others will like? Will they gain something from it? Will they be inspired themselves?

One of my favorite parts (well I actually think it is ALL great!) of the song is this: "So I pondered the points of my art in this life, if I make it, will someone take it and think that it is genuine? Would they be glad that I did 'cause they got something good out of it? Would they leave me and be more inspired?"

I can't tell you how often I wonder when I offer my creations to others be it free or tutorial or otherwise ... has it left you with more inspiration? Do you leave my site satisfied with my artwork?

Been busy

Just an update .... I haven't been around much because I haven't felt well, so in between I have been working on the Easter train kit :)

Lots of cool stuff - I think you will like it. It's going to be pretty big too! It looks like it will mainly be full size. I was going to do both just don't have it in me right now. But I think you will like it.

DSC's First Year Birthday Supplies

DSC (Digital Scrapping Class) is having it's first year birthday celbration.

Happy Birthday DSC!!

Here are some misc birthday supplies for everyone to play with if you wish to join in. Everything on the top portion is yours to do with as you wish. The bottom half is from fonts. Those can only be used for personal use unless you obtain the authors permission. The one is only a donation. Please read the TOU for further information about the font Authors. Thank you!

All the supplies shown are on individual layers in .pspimage format, 300 dpi. I also saved them so they can be used all the way back to version 8.

Photo Challenge
I was challenged today by Pat-PcArt.

This is the challenge instruction:
Go to your photo folder in your computer.
Go to the 6th folder of photos.
Go to the sixth picture.
Put the picture on your blog and description of it. Invite six friends to join the challenge. Link them in your blog and let them know they have been challenged. Here is my photo.

I too wondered oh gosh, what photo will be the 6th photo in the 6th folder. Whew, tongue twister!! This picture is my Step Son and Daughter - in - law with their new baby, Carlos ... still at the hospital. This was in Dec. 08. We haven't got to see baby Carlos yet since we live 2300 miles away, but he knows Grandpa/ma loves him to pieces!! The old saying: A picture is worth a thousand words goes without saying!!

Valentine Hearts PU Freebie

This is the first freebie I have gotten out since I got my layout done. I've had a lot of computer problems and had to reformat so haven't been around much. I did these for you today. The preview is small and doesn't show up as nice as it looks full size. There are four hearts total. The two you see which are aprox. 857 x 1501 at 300 dpi, and two without the blue ribbon (I forgot to add it) and without the beaded ribbons at bottom. Those are aprox. 857 x 889 300 dpi.

Candy Hearts PTU

I have finally had some time to get in here and list a Valentine goodie.

These are 465 x 474 in size so large enough to use on a full LO. They are 300 dpi so suitable for printing as well. I worked hard on this for nearly 3 weeks to perfect them. Then I had a major computer crash and was only able to ready them for uploading yesterday. But here they are, finally.

These are a steal at 2 bucks.

There are 16 textured hearts, 16 smooth hearts. Both sets of 16 are in the same color. They "all" have different words or sayings on them.

Christmas Charms

I am finally feeling a bit better but now I am freezing my butt off, lol. We had snow today. We've had snow maybe 3 times in 12 years!! :o But the snow went away, it got cold and looks like this little coastal fishing community is in for a nasty winter storm. We are in for a hard freeze tonight, snow and ice tomorrow through Wed. Hope it doesn't make my cold get bad again now that I am feeling better, sigh.

I made some bows using these charms (those will be in next post) and decided to offer just the charms as they could be very useful in their own ways :)

Almost human again?

I think I've just returned from a Night of the Living Dead sequel. Anyone who has dealt with this nasty flu going around was probably there with me, lol. I am still sick but I am bored to death. I am so sore all over, lol but I just had to get up and do something. To all you poor dears out there dealing with this yourself ... I wish you a speedy recovery!! I wish us ALL a speedy recovery :)
Can you believe Christmas is almost here? I can't. This year has flew past us. Seems as I age the years get shorter, not sure I like either of those realities. I'm still not ready. I have half my cards and gifts to finish and get sent out and haven't decided on a turkey or ham for dinner, lol. I haven't been able to see through the fog long enough to even think of that. Maybe that's a sign of impending wellness, yeah! I can wish ... Tis the Spirit of Christmas after all :) I do have everything else ready however, thank heavens.

I have been working on a couple of things and will try to get back on here later to post them, but if I don't make it I hope to soon. I am still pretty weak so don't know how long I can sit here but check back now and again as I hope to be back soon. Thanks for your understanding, and well wishes.

Chocolate Pretzels Freebie

I know everyone is busy with preperations for the upcoming Christmas festivities and I have a lot to do myself. I haven't even gotten my tree up yet. Not like me at all. I have always, without fail had my tree up day after Thanksgiving. This year it did not happen. Don't know why, just didn't. I hope to get it up within the next day or two. Lol ... I hope :))

I had been working on this since yesterday but hadn't done anything but a template for them. Today I did one of Shawna's new tuts over at Scrap Stuff with PSP and got the idea for the bevel on these. Thanks Shawna :) I then decided to add some drippy looks to it. Not perfect but ok I think. No drop shadow on the files. I have decorated one for an example. It is included in the file and you may use it for personal use. I have a chocolate and white chocolate, undecorated pretzel for you to add your own touches to. Enjoy.

My Feathered Friend

Christmas Cookie Button Script - CU OK !

This is my first script attempt. Not the best by any stretch of the imagination, lol, the icing is a lil too perfect but hey ... it's free right?? Background is for preview purposes only :)

You may use this for CU but not as a single item. It MUST accompany a kit, sigtag, etc. Instructions and TOU are included. This was made in PSP X2, but was tested on 9 and 10 and worked perfect. I cannot help anyone with 8 and 11, sorry.

Adding Download Links To Your Blogs

I am sure there are other ways to do this, but this is how I do it.

What you need:

1. A blog (tee-hee) For this example we are using http://blogger.com.

2. A storage site (such as 4Shared for this example)

3. A preview of the creation you're offering and ready to go

4. Your creation zipped and ready to go (don't forget to add your Terms of Use (TOU))

* I recommend you add your TOU to each and every file you offer.

Now you should be good to go so let's begin.

Go log into your 4Shared account and upload your zipped file. To do that, click on the Browse button as shown below. Navigate to the location of your zipped folder, click on it and then click Open. Now click Upload.

Once that has uploaded you will see this:

Now you need to Copy the link above that’s in the box. You could use HTML Tags etc, but that is not what I am teaching in this lesson. This is a simple way to me, no fuss – no muss. You should copy that to a notepad if you don’t already have your blog open, in case you need it again because of a mistake. This prevents going back and forth between 4Shared and your blog, and just saves time.

Ok, if you don’t have your blog open, do so now please. Once you are signed into your blog and on your dashboard click on New Post. You will see the next preview, without the Add image part of this preview; we’ll come back to that shortly. Take a few moments to look over this window (on the blog) and familiarize yourself with the tabs and buttons.

Where I typed in the number 1 it says Title. That is where you type in the name of your creation. You can see on my preview I typed "Alpha Ornament". That is the file I just uploaded, plus it did double duty for this tut :)

Now we need to add our Preview. Click the icon that looks like a mountain. It is the insert picture button. You can see it in the preview. Clicking it opens the second (top) section of this preview. If you want it centered tic Center before doing anything else. The size you will need to determine based on your preview size and your column width. You can play with that if it isn’t right. Just start with Medium first.

If you want to upload from your computer as I have done click the Browse tab and locate the Preview you have ready. If you plan to use Photobucket or something similar you will need to have the HTML code to put in the URL box. For the sake of this tut, let’s say it is Photobucket. You need to copy the "Direct Link" code and paste it into the URL box. Either way, when you have done so, click the Upload Image button. Please Note: I had to use Photobucket's HTML code to add my images here but not for my image used for my previews, odd. So it may be different for different things. If all else fails, try one at a time and then click Preview (under Compose tab) and you'll see if it workd.

Now you are back to the Posting window and you probably have a bunch of code in there and are going "what the heck"? Don’t panic, just click the Compose tab and you will see the actual image if it isn’t showing already. The Preview link under the tabs will let you get a "plain" view of what it will look like on your blog.

Drop down a line (tap Enter on your keyboard), type your message, as much as you want. When you are finished drop down 2 lines only (keeps a wide space from being in your presentation) and type out the word Download.

Here you have a couple options. You can use the word Download for your link or you can just use 4Shared. Or you can do like I did (since I use both 4Shared and Rapidshare) and type Download then drop down and type 4Shared. I think you’ll get the idea shortly. You can even use an image for your download link once you get comfortable with what you’re doing.

Ok, back to the way I am doing it here. I typed Download, dropped a line, and typed 4Shared. Look at next preview if you need a visual. As you can see, I’ve typed my message about the freebie I am offering. I’ve typed Downloads, dropped another line and typed 4Shared.

Highlight the word 4Shared, nothing else. Go up to the icon showing the link with the globe behind it and click on it. Its #2 in the above preview and you’ll see a close-up below.

I almost forgot to tell you that the "Labels for this post" section above is for quick searching if you have added the Label widget to your page. I typed freebies and it will show in the freebies link if someone clicks it from my main page.

Copy the link you saved from 4Shared and Paste it into this box that pops up and click OK.

You can now click the Preview tab to see how everything looks. Hold your mouse over the link to show the complete address for the link you just made (without clicking it).

Now click Hide Preview Link.

If you are satisfied with everything click **"Publish Post".

** DO NOT click Save Post!! It will close your post and save it as a draft. I found out the hard way, and it messed up my formatting for some reason. Your post will auto save every few minutes. I would imagine you can do a draft however, if you want to work on a post for a few days :)

If you find you need to edit something click Customize (from main blog window), then click the Edit Posts tab, and finally the Edit link on the post you were working on and correct anything you need to. Now, be sure to SAVE this time, using the Save button!!

There you have it …you have just set up your first download offer for your scrap blog! Congratulations!!

Alpha Ornament

I had a lot of fun making this alpha set. The font was upper case only so no option for lower, sorry.
I worked on it for a long time because I have been under the weather a lot lately, but I think it is work the wait and hope you do too. It always seems we get into the Christmas spirit before Thanksgiving even gets here, lol. I know I do. I am so far behind on anything for thanksgiving and seemed to move right into Christmas ... shame on me :) I hope to rectify that.

Pumpkin Wreath

I love fall colors when they have started to turn on the trees. It inspired this wreath after watching some of the leaves turning. This year is close to an end as we are heading into a new year. Hopefully it will be full of proserity and filled with much better things then this past year has given us.

I have been down (for a reformat) for almost two weeks. I am just about finished with getting things back together and am working on finding out if I can "install" filters on my external and they still work, lol. Humm ... anyone know the answer to this question? I have some that worked and others that seem to need re-installed now.

Anyway ... I hope to be back to creating again very soon. OMGosh ... I am having withdrawls :))

Frame Freebies

Trying to get motivated!!

I am trying to work past the things going on. Some of you know what I am talking about. But, I have to stay busy, or go mad, lol.

I did work on my blog today. Gave it a totally new face lift, using the same header but fixed, lol. I owe this to InkkFreak who so kindly gave of her time to walk me through this thing I call 'hateful html' LOL!!! I want to work on something better ... I like this, but, I am capable of so much better. So that will be a project for the future and hopefully by then I will have looked over the things she helped me with and actually understand it *smiles*.

Hopefully, tomorrow, I will have some goodies up for you. I have a couple things to share, just haven't gotten to it yet. So check back soon!!

Okay ... Here's what it looks like.

1. Open a New Image 3600 x 350 / 300 ppi / Transparent

2. With your Selection Tool draw out a rectangle aprox. 55 pixels wide and the length of the canvas.

3. Flood Fill with a pattern or gradient of your choice.
* Make note of a darker complementing color in your pattern for using later. Copy it's HTML code or write it down.

4. Apply a texture of your choice or, use mine: Effects > Texture Effects > Texture/Canvas Coarse: Size (in order): 203, 0, 1, 0, o, 315, 50, 30.

5. Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds.

This is where you add the HTML # you saved.

Mine was for a green ribbon, sorry it doesn't match lol.

6. Select None.

7. Effects > Distortion Effects > Wave.

8. Using your selection marquee set to rectangle surround the rough ends and hit Delete.

Or, use the the freehand selection tool if you want a diagonal cut.

Save as .PNG for use in your layouts.

Fuzzy Teddy Bear Tutorial

This is what we’re going to be making.

This tut assumes you are familiar with later versions of PSP and its tools.

This tutorial is meant as a teaching tool.

You May:
Sell it in a kit, sig tag, birthday card etc, you may alter it, add to it, take away from it, do anything to it you'd like. A mention of my blog would be nice if asked about the bear, but is not necessary.

You may not:
Sell it 'as is' for Commercial Use. You are not allowed to resell, sublicense or otherwise make available the graphic for use or distribution separately.

Meaning:

You may not place it anywhere for sale alone. It must always be a part of an existing kit, on a craft project that the bear is not the main design. I say this because it is my original idea and design. I reserve the right for it to be sold in that manner. It will always remain ©Shade DeZines. Thank you for abiding by my terms :)

Supplies Needed:
PSP / I’m using 12, but I’m sure any will work.
Eye Candy 5/Textures (Animal Fur) – Demo Here
*Eye Candy 4000/Bevel Boss
*With the onset of the new Eye Candy collections, Alien Skin discontinued Eye Candy 4000. So, if you don’t have the newer collections you may need to play with Eye Candy 3 or PSP’s native bevel to achieve these effects. And you may have to use PSP's native Fur (Effects > Textures > Fur) in place of what I have used. You would need to find a suitible setting for this yourself however. Please note they make look different, but please don’t let that discourage you.

HINT: I personally advise naming your layers as you finish them when working on a tutorial that has this many layers. You’ll be glad you did! Also, use the image’s often as a reference.

Let’s get started!

New Image / 1000 x 1100 / 300 ppi. > Fill: #7f5401 / Foreground: Null

1. Ellipse tool / Circle Setting > Create on vector. Draw out a circle for the head (approx. 336 x 336). Objects > Align > Horz. Center in canvas > Apply > Convert to Raster.

2. New Layer > Draw a small circle for the ears > Right click in circle > Edit Node > Move into place > Apply. Convert to Raster > Duplicate > Mirror. Merge Visible. SAVE.

3. New Layer > Ellipse tool set to ellipse > same settings. Draw a body shape approx. 325 x 473. Objects > Align > Horz. Center in canvas > Apply > Convert to Raster. DO NOT merge.

4. Ellipse tool > Same Settings. Draw a slightly imperfect circle using the ellipse for the feet at about 152 x 266. Adjust as needed > turn into place with Pick tool > Duplicate > Mirror. Convert to Raster.

5. Ellipse tool > Same Settings. Draw out a shape for the legs about 277 x 174. Move into place > Turn (If needed, adjust the size). When happy with placement convert to Raster. (Don’t worry about size of feet, they can be resized later, if needed). Move the leg layer below the body layer. Duplicate > Mirror.

6. Ellipse tool > Draw shape for the arms about 150 x 350. Adjust if needed. Turn until it looks about like it does in the image. Covert to Raster > Duplicate > Mirror > Arrange as needed. Note: I also moved the feet some.

7. Now it is time to work on the fur. You’ll need to adjust settings on some pieces to be sure the fur sticking out is on the right side. So let’s start with the head. I’ll give you my settings for that and let you do your own thing from there. Pattern: Original Image, Draw Outside Selection checked, Seed 2204 > Hairs: Starting @ Direction and moving down: 262, 12.95, 29, 161.46, 40, 74 > Lighting: 98, 81, 100, 100, White, 27. NOTE: If you don’t want the highlights, turn the brightness and highlight size to a lower number or Zero. Continue with all pieces except feet. Make any adjusts as needed.

8. Activate the right foot layer. Effects > Eye Candy 4000 > Bevel Boss / Basic: 40, 66, 91, 93 Checkmark in Shade > Lighting: 251, 86, 100, 25, Highlight: white / Shadow: #4c4646 > Bevel: Button > Apply fur to the foot > Adjust > Brightness/Contrast 8/0 > Adjust > Brightness and Contrast > Clarify: 1.0 > Duplicate > Mirror.

**I know. It was just for placement and you can delete the original left foot now

DO NOT MERGE ANYTHING YET

9. Move Head above body layer. Change your color to #d8d6d3. Grab the ellipse tool and make a shape for the inner ear > Turn it and move it into place > Duplicate > Mirror > Move into place if needed > Apply fur > Apply fur again, changing hair direction (Optional). If it’s too dark lighten a bit. You could also Duplicate and Merge Down which will make it lighter too. If you would like to shade behind the ears like I did, do so now. I used the Lighten/Darken Tool – shade just like you would on a ribbon.

10. Ellipse tool > Draw out a shape for the outer mouth area about 155 x 119 using the same color as the inner ear: Adjust brightness if needed > Apply fur > Move into place dropping shape just slightly below the head line.

11. Color: Black > Ellipse tool > Draw a nose > Apply Bevel. My settings: Basic: 40.66, 67, 91. Lighting: 251, 86, 100, 100, white/black. Bevel: Carve.

12. Pen tool / Create on Vector, Solid Line, Width 8, Anti-Alias checked. Draw the mouth lines. Apply a small bevel and a very light drop shadow just to give it a bit of depth.

13. Ellipse tool > Color: Black > Draw an ellipse for the eyes. Move into place > turn as needed > Covert to Raster > Duplicate > Mirror.

14. Ellipse tool > Draw inner eye, color same as outer mouth area or white if preferred, convert to raster. Move into position if needed. Draw a black circle for pupil > Convert to Raster > Select All > Float > Defloat > Artistic Effects: Balls & Bubbles / Shape: Single ball / Surface: white, 22, 35, 98 / Illumination: Max 61, Min 6, Lights 1, Position lower right bottom, color white, highlight 63, Bubble light checked >Merge Down with White layer > Resize the outer black layer 90% > Select the black layer > Balls & Bubbles > Change only the Illumination settings to: Ambience: 21,0 / Position: top left corner, highlight size: 44 > Deselect. Still on same layer > Effects > Texture Effects > Fine Leather: Color dcdcdc, Angle: 129, 35, 241, 75, 3 > Lower opacity of white layer some so it blends better with the back layer > Merge all left eye layers > Duplicate > Mirror. (Again, delete the unused black eye layer *smiles*).

Wow … you should have a bear now!! Way to go! Before we merge anything we may need to do some adjusting. Look over your bear. Are you happy with the way it looks? Are the legs and arms in the right place?? Need to add any more shading, an extra layer of fur, resize anything? Make your adjustments, or add embellishments now. When you are finished merge visible and save as PNG.

I've been trying to get things together but it's been tough while dealing with all this pain. Plus I still don't quite know my way around in here. Have lots to learn yet. I've been looking for a better LO but can't find what I like ... and have no clue how to do one myself. Anyway, hopefully soon!!
